Oh my heart is breaking for you. I got to know Strudel through your newsletters and realized what a special dog she was. I'm so happy I got to meet her in person last year. What a doll. You gave her the best life.
Two vets landed on "she's mad your life got busier" and "more fiber" while you were the one recognising signs you'd already seen once with Whimsie. The shredding was the symptom and it kept getting treated as a behaviour problem.
Beautifully written tribute to Strudel--and Whimsie--and you! You gave your all to your pups, and they returned the favor. I'm now on my tenth dog, and each one has a piece of my heart and soul. I've been through cancer, poisonings, diabetes, spinal neuropathy, strokes, broken bones (mine and theirs), destruction, accidents, and more, and I wouldn't trade a single second. I could tell Strudel was special from your earlier posts, and I'm sending big hugs to you.
Your words mean so much to me. I know you've loved—and grieved—so many wonderful dogs, and you're right: I wouldn't trade a single second with Strudel either. And your sweet baby is so darn cute! Thank you for the hugs. ❤️
Good morning, I am so very sorry for your loss. Pups are so good and so very loving. It is so very hard when we lose one as they love us unconditionally. Pups are good for the soul and for our well being and they ask for nothing in return. We do the Best we can for them and know that we love them and see that they are happy. I lost a pup 13 years ago he was 7 years old and such a good boy, less then a month after my husband got me a 6 week old puppy, he surprised me, I felt that I was not ready for a pup , but as soon as I saw him I knew I loved him. He is now 13 years old and he makes me smile and laugh every day, he is a very good boy also. I do believe our pups go to Heaven and one day we will see them again. There are pups out there that need our love and attention, and we need them also. Take Care. Sincerely, Alicia Haney
This is both heartbreaking and heartwarming, my friend. As we all know, pain at parting is the price we pay for loving. Like you, I would still choose loving. Why else are we here if not to love?
So so sorry for your loss. What wonderful family members you have been able to share your life with. I’m sad for the stranger. When there is great loss in my home losing a canine friend I’m rescuing another in honor of the life of my previous best friend. I can’t image living life without a dog and so many need homes. Hugs and love to you.
Thank you so much for your kind words , Lisa, and for sharing your beautiful perspective. Your idea of honoring a beloved dog by rescuing another is truly touching. ❤️

That is beautifully said, and it's exactly how I feel. The heartbreak is real, but I would choose loving her every single time. ❤️
Oh, Zelly. I’m so sorry. RIP good Strudel. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, Sue 🤗
